Run the setup executable. Stype launches and parks itself in your Windows system tray. If SmartScreen prompts, click More Info → Run Anyway - expected for independent open-source apps.
Right-click the tray icon, open Settings, and assign any global shortcut. Default is Ctrl + Space. Works across every app - browser, IDE, email, anywhere.
Press your hotkey once to begin, speak naturally, press again to finish. Stype shows a live status pill, then pastes the transcribed text directly at your cursor position.

Stype is a fully offline application. All audio captured via your microphone is processed locally using the Whisper AI model. No audio is uploaded, no text is transmitted externally, and no internet connection is required for transcription.
Stype does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information. There are no cookies, tracking pixels, crash reporters, or telemetry of any kind.
Stype requires temporary microphone access for audio capture, keyboard hooks to detect your global shortcut, and clipboard access to paste the resulting text. These permissions are used solely for their stated purpose.
